  • It's worth clarifying that Janis Karpinski was not "prosecuted" as Smith, perhaps innocently, implies. She requested, but did not receive a court martial. Her promotion was vacated by Presidential order, a cowardly dodge that avoided having to prove that she was at fault, or that the rest of the chain was squeaky clean.
