This is what the bags will look like when they are done. this prototype I made out of yarn because I could rip it out if I needed to. plastic does not rip out very easy, yarn is much more forgiving. Now I have my pattern and will start making these with plarn. I have posted the pattern in my etsy store, My user name is 33craft. come and look me up.

  • what? your safeway bags are brown?!?!

  • @cucumberpotato They used to be. They are white now. I do have a friend that saves me green and another that saves me yellow. and in October Haggan's (local grocery store) has pink bags. I am always on the look out for colored bag though. I have all of the teen's that I know save me the small colorful bags that they get when they go to the mall. I almost have enough to make a rainbow bag.

  • Excuse me, but your bags. Frickin. Rock. :)

  • @Treasures4Food

  • @Treasures4Food I am making mats for the homeless, and I WISH THERE WERE MORE colors also. But I dont know where to shop to get pretty bags. Good luck ! I love Etsy.I make jewelry but I am afraid to commit to make soo much to keep up with Etsy.

  • wow you are really talented :)

  • Hi -- I also craft with plarn and love all the different things you can do with it. I've cheated for specific projects and bought bags at the store -- often you can get scented bags in pink and blue. Black crochet'd bags feel like leather :) For additional splashes of color -- I've dabbled with plastic table cloths which come in a multitude of colors. Best of luck to you!!!

  • Hi Lori,

If you have lots of white bags add some yarn while you crochet them for color. Hope it works for you,

    God Bless,

    Petra
