FFX Seymour Battle Theme Remix (Trance)

This project was fan made. Read here too

Not one, but two different versions I have been working on.

So i wanted to take it back and do a ffx remix. i would like to think this is the one most memorable by the fans. To be honest i was a bit intimidated to post because i keep on reading forums of how its one of the best battle themes in ff. so i do hope you all enjoy yet another remix and i also hope it lives up to the original. remember this is two remixes. first one is complete and will be available for download. second is a work in progress.

lots of people ask me what programs i use. for the first version i used reason 4 for the main track and ableton for the samples. from what i can remember there are only two samples i used for this version. everything else such as the midi notes were made in reason.

for the second version i used ableton a lot more then usual along with reason. ableton carried most of the track while reason was for synths i either used or created.

wave lab and izotopes ozone 4 were used for both tracks in post production

one more thing. the second version is loud! almost to a point where it sounds distorted. its mainly the bass line which im working on. just needs some eq and some lovin. keep posted

It's that Dm > C > Am > Bb that's the most beautiful part, that part of extasy that people look for.

You can find that progression in Rise of The Silver Dragons from FF9...and I think....Mulan? That soundtrack? Somewhere? x__x

You could also go Dm > C > Am7 > BbM7 (oh god....M7 on the Bb...just extasy x__x).

If you did that, people would not say "This isn't as good as the original", but maybe even see it as better, since unconsciously this is actually what people are listening for.

I think the only thing that's bothering me is that you are changing the chord progression (the chord progression is the emotion of a song), so it feels more like an original.

I'm not saying that this is any worse a song, this is really amazing. x_x

To me, though, a chord progression is 90% of a song.

The thing is, some of thse remixes don't resemble the original ones very well. If I would make my friend listen to this (asuming that he knows the original tracks), he wouldn't recongnize what theme this remix was towarded to. Sure, there are some memorable sounds in there.

@Ernesto9IL I think that this version would be perfect for the remake of the game, even better than the original, but Nobuo made the original version and that is much harder i think...
