Octreoscan, a test that is vital to those with various Neuroendcrine Cancer's is completely unavailable in the USA. My wife who's Cancer is showing progression via CT scan needs this test to determine if she can be accepted into a specific treatment program in Switzerland ( no FDA approved treatment exist in America ).
This is a letter from the manufacturer about it not being available here and not knowing when it will be available.
We need another source for this as well as other radioactive materials used for medical purposes or individuals will die....it is that plain and simple.
Mount Sinai in NY does octreoscans and MIBG scans. My wife had it for diagnosing a neuroendocrin type dormant tumor that was removed in March 2011.
Dr. Michelle Kim and surgeon Sasan Roayaie are her doctors and I can recommend them both.

This issue is resolved now btw.
However, your wife can also under go Pet w gallium68 which is the "gold standard" for NET disease imaging. There is a You Tube video on PRRT from DR Richard Baum which reviews the disease, imaging PET vs Oscan, and the therapy PRRT and different types. See this video . My site has a ton of data on links on all options and disease data as I have advanced NET's
good luck!

Michael.
You are such a devoted warrior for your wife, and others with Pancreatic Cancer. I still believe much of the problems PC patients encounter is because of its fatality rate, and that there is little money to be made. It's disgraceful that money is a factor, but I think if Companies could make multi-millions things would move much faster. Good luck to you, my friend, Ray..

Michael sorry to here about this issue. Wha an outstanding job you are doing for your wife but for so many others. Seems to me the USA must step up and make these treatments available elsewhere available here as well. My best thoughts are you with and your wife both!!!

Michael,
Thank you for taking the time to bring this important issue to the forefront. It is disturbing to know that the United States does not have this important diagnostic tool available for those who desperately need it. My best wishes to you and Sherrie, and let's hope your proactive efforts will help enact some changes soon.
