A wonderful recording and one of my favourites at the moment.
This version is taken from my copy of the Verve LP "Blues et Gospel No 3". It is now available on "The Bill Broonzy Story [Box-Set]" (Verve) and as a download under http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/key-to-the-highway/id404577?i=404440
There is just something about the blues. As much as I enjoy classical music and current styles of music alike, there is some absolutely fucking gorgeous aspect of the blues that is just sexy. Raw sound is incomparable.

@gmgeordiemac I'm very jealous :( I wish I had grown up in a different time. These days there's too much pretentious music getting around it's almost impossible to find the gems (well here in Australia anyway). Ah well, at least I got a pile of Ace records to keep me satisfied haha

Though I'm not saying at all I don't love the blues, just that the life you gotta lead to sing the blues right is a treacherous one indeed. I'm 19 years old and if I seen it, then lord have mercy you'll find it too. Just don't say that blues has nothing to do with the devil because it does, just refine your sense of morality and you'll start seeing exactly what these blues cats be talkin bout......

The blues is the devils music, but hell in this old world, what else is a man supposed to do? Ramblin, drunkeness, never being satisfied? What kinda life we all living. If you don't believe in god or the devil, then you don't know the blues. Blues is all about 'selling your soul to the devil' which is practically turning against god to live a life of immorality. Where it all leads though, is a sombre end to a life of heartache and pain. If you lookin' for the devil, you find him. Everywhere.

Great music. The story on the Little Walter version is that he recorded it in tribute to Big Bill Broonzy when he died -- Walter had hung around with him, had high respect for him, and does a great job on the song himself.

No other version of this song even comes close! Big Bill has an attack on the guitar that none of the best and most well known of the competition can begin to match.

@Rory99M They are equally great. I don't have a preference. I love Clapton's version. Fortunately, this great song has been recorded by a lot of great singers. I love 'em all.
