this video was so darn helpful

It's not a loud beep either, just a high pitched chirping that is extremely irritating..

I bought an imac g5 with no hard drive or memory and bought the parts to replace them, only problem is, after I replaced all the missing parts the imac wouldn't turn on! It just makes a high pitched beeping sound about once every second. Do you know anything about this? What can I do to fix it?

song sucks..
so let me get this straight. i have an imac G5 1.9 GHz PowerPC memory 512MB ok. So i can take out my memory and replace it with 2x 2GB memory sticks to give me 4 GB altogether and i will not loose anything but just gain speed?

From what I can tell that model has the 512MB soldered onto the motherboard and an open socket. That socket can be upgraded with a 2GB part for a maximum of 2.5GB. Your socket would be under the front edge of the monitor. No data would be lost during the process.

thanks for that. so i dont need to take the whole back off my imac. just the slot at the bottom?

That is correct. Your model is newer than the one we had for demonstration.

will the SDRAM from my mac g4 work in an imac g5? because i have one 254 mb stick and then 2 512mb sticks. the ram in my imac g5 is bad so i need to put in working ram so i figured i culd take out the two 512mb sticks from my power mac g4 and put them in since they both take dimm sdram. right?

It would depend on the model of the G5, most take DDR SDRAM Modules instead of the PC100/PC133 SDRAM.
