The only one? Really?
I wonder how many others you may actually know without realising it - simply because they 'care' that much they haven't even talked about being atheists.
From my experience, other than "Feidi Defensor", the majority of the 'vocal' ones are actually "anti-theist"...
Either way, you'll probably also find that most actual 'atheists' who have watched this are kinda 'meh' about the whole thing and, if they even have an opinion, it's probably "it's a laugh, innit"...

I'm celebrating this spring as I do every spring, by taking in a stray cat. Apparently people think my dead-end road is a good place to toss out unwanted kitties. Costs me a fortune in vet costs and chow, but still much cheaper than the long-term costs of religion. Try calculating that! (Seriously, try estimating the drain on personal finances and/or the national economy caused by religion.) Plus, cats will love you back, whereas God...not so much.

I like the Easter eggs especially the Cadbury ones full of cream. I was never that keen on the buns but the chocolate eggs I could have ate those all day but I never got enough. That is probably why my teeth are not so good.
Funny stuff, but I can't help point out that the final line in another context, had it been directed at Muslims, would likely have resulted in some perceiving you as an Islamophobe, or a racist.

@TheNakedAtheist The sentiment applies equally to all blind, slavish followers of religion, regardless of the actual creed. I know more about christianity than I do Islam, Judaism, etc - but bigoted fundies of all religions are equally worthy of contempt in my eyes. If criticism of bad ideas leads to accusation of racism then I don't really see that as a valid connect, more like clutching at straws.

What's jesus got to do with Ishtar's day again? I mean it's a fertility festival. Eggs and bunnies and maypoles and bright coloured clothing. Been that way for centuries before anyone even wrote down the jesus myth. Still that way now. If you approached early christians with some coloured eggs and a chocolate bunny they'd be all WTF? But if you went back 500 years before christ to Sumeria and showed the same things they'd be all "Ishtar eggs and um this rabbit effigy great!"

@ratholin "What's jesus got to do with Ishtar's day again?" I can't believe you asked that question. It has the same connection with Ishtar's day as it has with Saturnalia - both were pre-existing festivals that the sticky fingered christians decided to adopt as their own. Nothing in Christianity is original.

Jesus is easily removed from Easter so that it just becomes "thank god winter is over day." Not sure what they would be celebrating in the Southern Hemesphire though...

@dgeypscun Perhaps if we celebrated the solstices and equinoxes we'd realise that we're part of the Earth, not masters of it.
