  • Hi to everyone who has fond memories of "Plebs" (Plebeians Jazz Club Halifax).

I've decided to create & host a web site dedicated to memories & events at the club, together with links to the best Northern Soul Sites on the web.If anyone is interested in supporting me on this project, can you contact me. The site is now viewable but will take several weeks to fully develop. It seems as though I can't post the url in this message.

    Cheers "Happy"

  • Let me know when it´s up and running! Looking forward to it.

  • I´m with you on that! Great memories of great days! Wish I could relive it all again. Still got the scooter and now ride it round sunny Spain. Anyobe3 with photos back in the day please send me an email with details.

  • The best years of our life? Without a doubt. Wish I could relive them.

  • Im from Daytona Beach and I loved this music as a girl Had no idea people in the UK

    loved this music so much

  • Are you the infamous "Suzie Q" who used to go to Georges Square in Halifax about 1967.

I'm sure there used to be a girl who rode a white SX200 about that time, who was always buzzing around Georges Square. Maybe I'm mistaken in thinking it was the rider who was called "Suzie Q" & it was only the name of the scooter. It could be my imagination, but I'm convinced there used to be this tasty looking long haired blonde girl. Can anybody else out there remember her ?

  • Great posting.Cant bring the place back but the sounds still live on.Went down with my mate from Crossleys in 67 cause his sister[Pat Brown] worked on the cloakroom sometimes and we'd just got into the sounds.Brilliant, trouble is i'm still into them----its never died. By the way xcellent book written by John Wharton Plebs The Halifax Jazz Club 1961-68 worth checkin out for full story.ISBN 187082 15 7 Sephton Enterprise Publications.

  • Great movie clip, brings back lots of memories. Used to have a scooter called "Suzie Q" then bought a Lambretta SX 200, it was gold & white , my cousin Paul Foster had one too in red and white.

Anyone know the whereabouts of Linda Horner (nee Harkness) or Jane Gaskell or Dorothy Hartley?? ex scooter lover.

  • i like all the girls with the big eyes especially ann

  • Great find, those were the days!!!!. I remember Susan Sharpe from Clare Hall she was in the same form as me. years later when Clare Hall closed down I saw a photo of her at the reunion and she has even got better looking with age. We are now most of us in our 60,s but they really were the best days of our lives..
