Tiffany Chin is an amazing skater and coach. You shouldn't compare her to anyone.
-
First of all she does a double axel to the fucking idiot who posted this!
-
Was there a frame missing? Sure didn't look like a triple to me.
-
it's a double, unquestionably, a double axel.
-
Great posture too. Seems like she had some good technique and timing didn't have to muscle it.
-
How old is she ?
-
the nice thing about her 3A is that its nice and neat with a clean landing and checkout, not like some ladies' 3A ( or other jumps) nowadays who just rely on their skinny/slim figures to squeeze the rotations out, hence the common under-rotation, barely squeezed out check-outs etc.
-
@nondescriptnyc I still liked Tonya's higher jumps etc.
-
@HattieLovesCattie If we count small competitions, Midori Ito landed hers in 1985. There are stipulations about the settings in which these jumps must be completed (e.g., ISU competitions vs. national competitions, etc.) for them to be recognized.

@jonathanscott26 Sure, you are right. However, what's different about Tiffany's 3A attempts is that she landed those 3As very, VERY convincingly unlike others (including Weiss's 4Lz attempts, which were consistently under-rotated, 2-footed, or otherwise unclean).
i really thought tiff would have done more with her career. Classic case of a nasty asian mother who destroys her daughter. Draggon lady!

Many women land triple axels in practice. But if it's not done in competition at a USFSA or ISU event, you don't get the title of recognition from those organizations. Everyone knows that Tiffany Chin was landing them in practice for years. Micheal Weiss was landing quad lutzes in practice but none were considered 'completed' in competition so he never got credit. You gotta land it when it counts.
