  • I love Dubstep, its pretty much all ive been listening to this year but ive gotta say, its just slowed down DnB without the melodies, its that simple to explain. Dubstep dosnt have melodies, its just like an experiment of sound fx, like when i listen to a Datsik track or especially a downlink tune i hear some weird sounds going on that ive never heard before, thats what Dubstep has ahead of DnB, but for me melodies are more important

  • @SamHain1031666 thing is with both is theres so many sub genres, i wouldn't call a lot of techy/jump up dnb melodic but then you've got all the liquid that makes up for this. on the other hand some dubstep is quite melodic, its much deeper, but its there :)

  • how people can make a documentry about dubstep is beyond me... obviously low budget uni stuff very short cut aways no actual point aprt from gettin a few "names" opinion wheres both sides? wheres actual facts about dubstep as a genre? wheres footage from this dubstep "hub"? too many fades, im not shitting on you bro i passed with a 2:1 in film studies @ bournemouth uni. just pointing out some stuff.. however reasonably entertaining good luck in the future.

  • @shiftizzle07 fair play for you comment ill take all constructive criticism.. theres no way you can get all the facts about dubstep into a 5 minute documentary.. and if by hub you mean the club, they don't let people film inside, obviously people are going to of done it, but i definitely had a tripod on me. thanks anyway.

  • what's the song at 2:20?

  • 26 basslines by Benga

  • @automat3000 I like the melodies that The Prodigy use, if a dubstep producer came along and had similar melodies with wobbles and everything else that makes up a dubstep tune i think it would be pretty sick. All in all i think music today is pretty throw away but if you look at timeless tunes, they all have great melodies. Dubstep (even with all its awesome sounds) is pretty basic

  • @SamHain1031666 Fair enough you don't like more traditional dubstep, but i'm not sure how you expect the midrange dubstep to have any room for a melody. It's already crowded with sound. Unless you'd want the intro or a breakdown in the middle to have some sort of melody. I know people like Nero, Flux Pavilion & Skrillex incorporate melodys within their tracks, but they tend to use really cheesy eurodance sounding synths with bad vocals (which is a weird contrast to the overtly masculine wobbles)

  • @automat3000 Ive heard all dubstep and i dislike the minimal stuff (which is weird coz i love icicle and other minimal dnb producers). Id like to hear the dubstep im into only with melody, coz even though i enjoy it, its definitely missing some depth

  • @SamHain1031666 If you think dubstep doesn't have melody, you haven't heard enough dubstep. The fact that you site Datsik & Downlink as examples pretty much tell me that. Those kind of producers focus on LFO gymnastics & the emphasis is on the midrange & producing this overwhelming, aggressive wall of sound. When dubstep is deeper and more minimal (like it mostly was), there is room for melody. Less is more.

  • @DubSlut1020 yeah i found out i actually have a cd with it on lol cheers anyway man :)

  • @ollycu36000 Emalkay - When i look at you, being 5 months ago, you probably have it now :D

  • dubstep= best racing music :)

  • That dude looks like a brittish usher

  • @Nau7ia

    Midstep.

  • nowadays dubstep is also lacking sub base.
