Enjoy this bolero/twist Cambodian classic, released sometime around 1964, which features music, lyrics and vocals from the master, Mr. Sinn Sisamouth.

The track has been nicely remastered by my friend and youtube member Sonkhmer. The video features the "Queen of the Night", the Cereus flower, which waits its whole life to bloom just once. As the sun sets, the Cereus begins its beautiful dance. By morning, the flower has closed itself forever.

  • Jeff i believe you're right, the song came out around the time as Champa Battambang in 1964. According to Kong Bunly in his compendium "Prachum Chamrieng Pisess" (PPenh, May 1971) of which i have a copy, it states that the music and lyrics are Samouth's.

  • Thank you very much for confirming my suspicions. Wow, I have never heard of such a book, it sounds like a real treasure. Have you or your family had that book ever since 1971?

  • Hi, many thanks for this beautiful song. In no way do I wish to insult Mr Sinn Sisamuth but my ears tell me that this song was sung by "Im Song Seum." I could well be wrong, though. I had been looking for this song for a very, very long time. Thanks once again.

  • Hello,

Do you have Komphem Taeng Khluon by Sin Si?

  • Jeff, just wanted to say that you have a great tast in music and obviously you have quite of collections. Not only that, you've entails the history of the artist which is awsome.

  • i bought it at the old Psar Chass back in 1972. it contains inaccuracies (e.g. it attributes to Samouth some well known international tunes). Other references however ring true although i have no way of verifying them (eg Im Song Seum's "Romduol Kratie" music & lyrics by Ma Lao pi, my favourite songwriter). The book contains 120 songs going back to around 1963 although no dates are ever given. The tunes and lyrics of both Champa Battambang and Chompey Siemreap appear to have been Samouth's.

  • my new fav song thanks jeff.

  • My mom has one of those plants. It's beautiful and smells wonderful. Too bad it only lasts one night, but that makes it all the more special.

  • I love it Jeff! The song, and the video are awsome. I have to agreed with CitalL212 the song is very rare to find. Credited to Sonkhmer remasted the song so nicely.

  • beautiful. thanks for sharing. haven't heard this song before.
