The Drum

Segun Akinlolu (aka Beautiful Nubia) performs at Word and Sound, the first ever performance poetry series in Nigeria. It was produced by EniObanke Music with the support of Jazzville, ran from December 2003 to December 2004 and was forced to fold due to financial constraints. In this short period, many aspiring, emerging and established writers, poets, singers, dancers, musicians, etc. showcased their works to the delight of a warm and engaging audience. Standing to the immediate left of Segun in this video is the celebrated performance poet Akeem Lasisi who was a key collaborator in the execution of the series.
