Oh believe me - we do not think you have bland politicians!
I think that quirk of the film is down to Iannucci having a more intimate knowledge of Westminster and Whitehall than Capitol Hill, and so he and his writers decided to be less aggressive and play the jokes a little more broadly with the US government. The message remains though - the ego of the UK gets caught up in the pomp and spin of the Washington machine, runs madly out of control, and drags people into a war for dubious reasons!
