The Main Canopy had tension knots.

  • you release it by pulling a handle. we refer to it as a "cut a way" handle.

  • Absolutely, I had enough time to consider all my options, which is not always the case. I had plenty of altitude to deploy my reserve so i chose that option. It was the last jump of the day at a new dropzone and my rigger had me ready to go by the next morning so i could make the first load of the day.

  • Maybe a dumb question but.. what would have happend if you just rode the main down? Were you falling too fast or did you have no control?

  • I probably would have survived but not with out injury, for sure...it would have been ugly. The part of the canopy that was inflated was very unstable and acted like it wanted to fold up.
