looking for steam turnine small so u can hook it up to adrea rossi e-cat device
any ideas?
thanks

if by 'small' you mean about the size of a TV, sure. something this tiny would lack the raw grunt needed.
and then there's the issue of what do you do when the sun doesn't shine?
still be really cool.

Hey! You just invented a nice turbo charger for a R/C motor! Just hook up the exhaust to the thing and pipe it to the carb.

Some guy at MIT just developed a cheap DIY solar parobolic mirror,it flashes water into steam instantly[its very effiecent to what has been done so far]hmmm small turbine generator powering your whole house.YES

Ha ha it looks like your packing a bowl

I have to agree with Aploohno. The aluminium of the discs won't take the heat of an exhaust but would deal with steam. The disc spacing is related to the boundary layer thickness and thats thous for air or steam. I've thought about a hot (ie >700C) Tesla turbine and I'm not sure even SS would cut it without warping (remember the spacing you're trying to maintain). Possibly ceramic is the only way to go.

ohhh sorry, found it :P

could you upload a vid of it working? it would be great

well, ceramic ones might, but most older ones were aluminum. also the platters are a bit too widely spaced for maximium efficency. you might look into a place like E-machieneshop (googleit) to have them stamped from SS or even mild steel. I am no expert on teslas design.
Sweet idea, but attach a tesla bladeless disk turbine to the front end, plumb the output to a tiny propane burner and run the exhaust to the turbine and you could have a tiny turbine engine.

I would like to try to make a Tesla Turbine that would operate from the exaust of my steam Babington Burner. Do you think Hard drive platters would hold up to the heat, if used as turbine disks? Perhaps it would be better just to use the steam generated to drive the turbine?
