We don't necessarily have to see the dollar replaced with one individual currency. Some aspects of the current idea floated about a new reserve currency would create a reserve standard based on a (basket) of various nation's currencies. It could actually end up being something other than a currency. So as everyone said today 9/23/09 the Fed held steady with rates at zero, but another thing to consider is that the USA govt will also extend the $8,000 credit indefinitely for real estate purchases.

I don't believe any country in this world can replace the Dollar. Look for example India, the Rupee you are not allowed to cross border and the Yuan (Renmimbi) is not free convertible. And the Euro is already under stress of internal devaluation so how explain please can ever such currencies replace the Dollar? If Dollar collapses they are all sliding into Chaos. Don't forget 80 percent of the ECB Foreign Currency Reserves is Dollars!!! China ca not dispose 2 trillions never.

The Dollar, if collapsing, can only be a reflection of the Collapse of the entire US-Economy as we in the Western World have an elite which have declared war against it's own host. These people are all criminals! They opened our economies for Nation States like India and China while denying Nation State Protection Status to us. I am sure it will end up badly , in Civil War here and/or there. Either when Dollar collapses or when due of Revolution we get ride of our rotten elite.

eu, I understand the point to be that the dollar is collapsing; not USA. The dollar being the measure of USA's economy is weakening & we all agree that the FED has put it at great risk of collapse. But notice: many countries are uniting to replace USA dollars as the reserve currency. Also, (since you mention China), China has warned USA about the problems. By the time of total dollar collapse, China will be out of harms way of collapsed dollars & no more troubling than the collapse of Zimbabwe.

Marc Faber should stop day dreaming as if USA are collapsing which I also could imagine China and other Asian countries
will follow suit. They all depend on Export. So what will happen is that there will be Civil War in India and China as soon as the USA decide to let them starved with worthless Dollars never mind I am very optimistic the system will be cleaned finally and all rotten elites worldwide go bust. This will be the final collapse of the Communistic System then.
