Jerome Tremel, O. Praem., former Abbot of St. Norbert Abbey, discusses his educational and leadership accomplishments with Michael Marsden, dean and academic vice president of St. Norbert College.
Tremel was born in Luxemburg, Wis. He graduated from St. Norbert College with a bachelor's degree in philosophy in 1951 and was ordained a priest in June, 1954. Tremel followed his St. Norbert College education with a master of science degree from Purdue University and then a Ph.D., also from Purdue, in mathematics education in 1963. He went on to become an associate professor of mathematics and chair of the mathematics department at St. Norbert College. Later, in 1970, he was named Abbot of St. Norbert Abbey.
