Operation Mend took the field at the UCLA vs. Washington football game on November 7 at the Rose Bowl. In recognition of Veterans Day, eight American heroes representing our men and women in uniform who have been injured in combat and received treatment from UCLA Health Systems Operation Mend were honored in a special on-field ceremony.

Wearing hats signed by UCLA head football coach Rick Neuheisel, and escorted by a special honor guard from the U.S. Marine Corps, the wounded warriors were warmly applauded by the fans. UCLA Chancellor Gene Block, joined by former NATO Supreme Allied Commander (ret.), General Wesley Clark, UCLA Hospital System CEO Dr. David Feinberg, and UCLA Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Dr. Timothy Miller, presented a game ball to philanthropist Ron Katz, who started Operation Mend.
