They were terrible when the NorthStar motors were used too.. That motor is quiet, smooth, and very powerful.. But it is plagued with major overheating issues, that can cause head gasket issues. and in the ones that were build pre 2000 the motors would overheat and warp the head, which would cause you not to be able to fix it.. You would need to replace the whole motor.. Worst Car Mechanically on earth.. But definitely the most comfortable EVER!

mines at 126,000. its an 89 and running strong. just take of almost any GM from that era back and it can last more than 200,000. my dads got a 91 suburban with more than 250,000 and it starts first time every time. just take care of it.
I just bought one for $600

in all seriousness, wish I could help, I'm not a car head... There are lots of other caddy enthusiast videos posted by people who probably have good advice though!

what happend to the car it is a nice car dont tell me you sold it to the demo derby if so what a shame those are the best cars of the 80's solid wise maybe not engine wise but look inside the doors look and you will se solid tuibes of steel no wonder the 80's caddy won the derby 3 years ago at the ny state fair it beat all the late 60's cars 70's cars i was amazed and my buddys are like you have the same car lol......
