The Promised Land - Book of Mormon Evidence

The Book of Mormon, like the Bible, contains a record of God's dealings with a part of the House of Israel. It contains prophecies of Christ and also reveals how Christ, after his resurrection and ascension into heaven, later ministered to those who had waited for him in the New World. The Book of Mormon was anciently abridged by a prophet named Mormon and was engraved on gold plates, to preserve the sacred writing for a future time.

Joseph Smith received the divine commission to translate the gold plates through the power of God. The translation was published in 1830 as a volume of scripture, a sacred record.

We invite all people everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost.

Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is his revelator and prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's kingdom once again established on the earth, preparatory to the second coming of the Messiah.

@mattdawg83686 Something that is true is irrefutable. Problem with BOM is that it is entirely refutable, not just partially. Those who believe it do so at the expense of truth, evidence and reason. You claim that the cities, animals, tools, foods, places, etc have all been found yet fail to actually produce this. I've listened to your archaeologists but they don't produce evidence, merely fiction. They force together an ancient civilization with a Mormon mythology. They are not related.

Why does the Mormon church do any research at all? Don't they just tell people to pray to Heavenly Father and he will tell them that the BOM is true? What's happening now, they don't believe the answer they're getting from Heavenly Father? Are they actually going to try to proooove the BOM now? No! That would mean they would actually have to engage, answer direct questions and yes even admit, possibly, that they are incorrect, that the BOM is NOT true and that Joseph Smith was a fraud.

@majinish Even if that were true, the problem is that he couldn't tell the same story twice about what he supposedly saw. Each version was different from the last, becoming more and more exaggerated until he finally got to the currently accepted version, some 20 years after it supposedly happened.

If Smith couldn't tell the difference between pillars of fire and pillars of air, and couldn't tell if he was talking to one or two people and the angels that may or may not have been present, he's not terribly reliable.
