  • Only ever heard the Dolls and Heartbreakers version of this, this is quite brilliant.

  • new york dolls cover was terrible, poor vocals, no sax, wtf if you're gonna do a cover of a song and youre not gonna make it as good as the original at least put an original twist on it. all it is a guy slamming on a guitar and a guy belting out barely in key vocals generic, any 12teen year old band could do that

  • @clementles Johnny was in the New York Dolls. They did a cool version and Johnny took it with him when he formed the Heartbreakers with Doll's drummer Jerry Nolan.

  • Gary saved the most hard and rhythm sounds of rock and roll just when the ballad sounds where the hits of the moment in 1961

  • seen this guy on tues nite hes still got it shit hot if you get the chance go and see him hes the dogs bollox!

  • @SuperBatesy Not the NYD, Johnny Thunders & the Heartbreakers.

I don't remember Johansen singing that song.

    Whatever, really great song.

  • Fun song to listen to. Ranks right up there with "Quarter to Three" and "Dear Lady Twist". Steve

  • @SuperBatesy

    Sure did.

Judging from the great songs they covered, the Dolls knew their Rock'n'roll history.

  • Morencarlos,

Thank you for posting this great song by Gary U.S. Bonds. Morencarlos, when you have time could you please take a moment and post his record "School Is Out"? I know I would appreciate it and I’m sure several others would too. You take care and have a wonderful and safe day.

I was a member of the Laura Lamar High School class of 1964. Laura Lamar High School was located in Homer City, PA.
