@GojyotheFeared I see your point. But the only kid in this movie who was really obnoxious was Veruca Salt. The other kids just had faults- they weren't nasty.

I love the subtleties the movie throws in regarding each child's flaw. Mike Teevee's is, of course, his obsession with television. Note that when the Wonka bar materializes, Wonka asks Mike to take it, but Mike says, "How can you take it? It's just a picture!" This shows that an unhealthy obsession with watching TV will make you close-minded; Mike is so focused on TV and how it works that he is incapable of understanding a different form of it, i.e., "Wonkavision."
