WKBW 2008 EWN Open with WPVI 1996 Theme

Another form of Action News sacrilege. Through the magic of Sony Vegas, i was able to make something to the tune of if KB used PVI's short-lived, and widely panned, orchestral rendition of "Move Closer". It wouldn't be for the entire news lineup, just for the 6 and 11. Just watch.

1996. WPVI has plenty the loyal viewer, and they have plenty the reason (well, just one) on why they... disliked, putting it mildly, the philharmonic version. Tradition. And their viewership can just as well be determined by an opening theme as by news coverage. Only in Philly. Actually, the theme is nice, sharp, and stomps real loud. Too bad it disjoints those fast cuts and lively action in their open.

This is the "Move Closer To Your World" version done by the London Philharmonic for WPVI's (6abc) Action News in Philadelphia in 1997.

Viewer response in this parochial city was swift and severe. The London version only lasted five days before WPVI reinstated the "classic" version.
