Short action scene filmed on Canon 550D. Video converted to Apple Intermediate Codec with MPEG Streamclip for editing in Final Cut and After Effects. Colour treated using Magic Bullet Looks & Mojo and composited with elements from Video Copilot Action Essentials 2. Audio created in Apple Soundtrack Pro. Score is a combination of Video Copilot Pro Scores elements (the percussion tracks are awesome!) and original music by Jamie Bathgate recorded in Logic Pro 9 with Toontrack EZDrummer and Musiclab RealLPC.

Thanks to Freddie Wong (freddiew) and Corridor Digital (CorridorDigital) for their excellent YouTube tutorials.

Directed by Jamie Bathgate
Starring Graham Johnston & Scott Murison

  • deserves more views... i just found this cos im thinkin bout getting a 550d. top work.

  • @Olliedfox I did that too! I went on a 550D video binge on YouTube and Vimeo.

  • this is awesome very creative! did he really jump????

  • @GrayWolfPictures Sorry, he didn't really jump out of that window. However, I say we pretend he did and that we are all awesome.

  • @jamiebathgate did you use a green screen?

  • @GrayWolfPictures Actually no; it was a cloudy day so the sky came out white, meaning we could film the jump against the same sky and use a rough mask. It turned out great considering how easy the weather made it for us.

  • Did you use the standard lens 18-50mm lens?

  • This is great!! really nice

  • @jamiebathgate its coming up a winner for me. 18mp, 1080p, external mic input. job done.

  • @QuakerOatsRule Late reply here! Time remapping in AE is all we needed for that end shot. I completely forget what camera settings I used and I didn't keep the source footage. I can tell you though that the background shot (of the building) is not retimed or anything, just a handheld shot. I also made sure to record the jump at 50fps, conforming to 25fps to get good slomo before using time remapping.
