An all-new Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle (PPV) will join the ranks of law enforcement departments across North America in 2011. It's a modern, full-size, rear-drive sedan that will offer both V8 and V6 engines, as well as a host of specialized equipment and features. Chevrolet made the announcement at the annual International Association of Chiefs of Police convention, in Denver, Colorado. The Caprice PPV will be available for ordering next year and will hit the streets in early 2011.

  • Very few are ever badged as Holdens. They sell perhaps 3000 Holden Statesman and Caprice models a year, and perhaps 30 times that badged as Chevrolets for export.

  • It has nothing in common with the current Impala, and is considerably bigger. It really does have much more room inside than the Crown Victoria.

  • it is a holden it should stay baged as a holden

  • Australia FTW!

  • I'd rather see Holden of Australia take over GM than vise versa.

  • You can thank Australia for this specifically Holden Australia =)

  • @Maglevspiritualgeek You should ask the Saudis or the United Arab Emirates if you can import one from there. The car on which this one is based is known as the Holden Caprice in Australia and the Chevy Caprice in the Middle East. Both civilian Caprices have almost every luxury feature you can name. Or you could wait until a "police Caprice" retires, and fit all the luxury stuff later.

  • @fooloco And you could even buy all the "upgrade" parts to make it into a Civilian Caprice. In Australia, this is a full-on luxury car, complete with DVD screens in the back of the headrests. You could source the parts from either Australia (Holden badged) or the Emirates (Chevrolet badging) You have a myriad of options for customising, as they are readily interchangeable. For example, the wheels off a Camaro will very likely match this: the current Camaro sits on a SWB version of this floorpan

  • @teeks1989 It's coming in with the new model. Any engine or suspension upgrades Holden does on the Australian Caprice will follow through to its American police cruiser cousin

  • @rik747 Suspension wise, they have NOTHING in common with any Impala. Having seen lots of US police videos in chases, this car has been Australian designed and built. It wastes no time with wheelspin and "drifting" around corners. How do I know? Because I've driven the Australian Holden Caprice it's based on

  • the body style looks like an impala malibu and toyota camary mixed into one
