Honestly, Hollywood, the MPAA, and the RIAA need to take a hard look at how things are. People are no longer satisfied with just LOOKING at content. People want to engage with creators, they want to remix, they want to BE creators. So stop fighting the internet! Stop fighting remix culture! Embrace these things! Have a dialogue with your audience. Let your audience be creators themselves! I think the entertainment industry has two choices. Either adapt and embrace, or watch their industry die.

@Hopefulfilment That's why technology patents in general are stupid. We love our capitalistic system, but proceed to make it impossible to compete (part of the basis of capitalism). Most software patents are patented IDEAS. This may or may not be true, but Apple could very well own the IDEA of having a dock at the bottom of the screen. Stupid right? No less stupid than if Progresso owned the idea of having soup in a can.

Dang! Patents are more important than Copyright laws. And this is coming from an internet pirate. He should probably do some research on bad things about patents. Some research facilities OWN the genetic make up of some diseases, we should look up on that and see if it helps or hinder the people.

Tbh patents are a much bigger issue than copyright.

Maybe you'll think its a big thing when competition becomes nonexistent and any innovation or forward movement grinds to a halt in your IT sector because nobody can do anything for fear of being sued by [insert evil corporation here] because it holds a patent on [insert ludicrous nonsense patent here].
No, its not big thing Johnny, go back to sleep .

Every time he has the make up an answer, his blink rate goes up. Truly outrageous that this is the *best* the Republican Party has to offer as a Presidential candidate.

Any cellphone today contains 100s of patents that were made just to make it harder for the competition to build one. The problem is that now every cellphone comp.owns many pat that are essential for ANY company to make ANY cellphone, hence they have to buy the rights of using the pat from each other and the cellphones get more expensive with no benefit for anyone but the company with the most patents. Whats more is that this makes it very expensive to start a new comp. thus limiting competition
