A 24 year frame-off restoration, this Mustang 2+2 Fastback started life as a 1966 model w/a 200 hp 289 V-8 & manual transmission. The original block & heads have been radically massaged to produce approx 350 hp. The engine is mated to a period correct, wide-ratio, 4-spd Top Loader transmission.

The car is a visual throwback to Dad's first Mustang from the late 60s, a fastback, 225 hp, A-code (4-bbl) car, the same car my parents took their honeymoon in. This car has front suspension from a '65 Shelby Mustang G.T. 350, an oversize tire/wheel package for increase handling capability & a Detroit Locker rear axle from a '65 Shelby Mustang.

  • Reply from Dad, "The color is called 'Springtime Yellow' which was a '65 & '66 color for any Ford. I don't recall seeing it on later years but it could have been used into the late 60's. I remember seeing many Galaxy's with that color back then and on tons of Mustangs as well of course. It is listed in all Ford color charts."

  • Wow that thing seemed like it was uncomfortably loud on the inside. Second Skin Audio has some things you might be interested. Also, how's the handling/suspension?

  • @wccrispy Suspension is very taught. Poly bushings & stiff Shelby GT350 springs all around. Plans are to do some auto-crossing in the nearer future. And yes, compared to most any modern high-performance car it is "uncomfortably loud" inside the car, just like vintage high perf cars of yesteryear.

  • Nice machine! Sounds good too, what kind of mufflers?

  • The reply from my dad, "Hedman ceramic coated headers and 3" Flowmaster system to the back of the car. If you listen carefully it sounds just like the Bullitt '68 Mustang from the Steve McQueen movie."

  • Very nice!

  • Thank you very much.

  • nice car

  • Great job. That is one bad-ass Mustang.

  • What color is that? Is it a 65 or 66 color?thanks

  • sweet stang. i like the snake in the grill. excellent work guys!!

  • @INDYLITTLE I'm always glad to hear of an older car with updated suspension. Braille Battery (lightweight batteries) and PST (carbon fiber driveshafts are their lightest) are some companies you may be interested in. I look around on the web a lot for parts and ideas for my Mustang.
