I try to stick to the scientific literature on this....predictions of disaster (and the opposite) come from opinion pieces. I would say the theory has strengthened as the scientific evidence supports. As for Kyoto, it actually was defeated. It was ratified by the US - true. How would it have been a disaster exactly? Is there analysis on that?

Linkage was intended because GW has moved rather rapidly from theory to predictions of disaster. As a result solutions have been proposed without regard to cost. An example is the Kyoto Treaty/protocol. In my opinion if this had been ratified it would have been an economic disaster for the U.S. While it was defeated soundly (95-0) it is stll considered a viable option.
