  • Hey can someone post here what that dude was saying? i can't stand his accent it's not clear he's like murmuring.

  • @Billabongs122988

He says: "We don't particulary like the comparisons to Nirvana cause we think, you know, the music is nothing like them and the only thing that's for that we get compared to Nirvana is Daniels hair, that's all, you know we can't help it,we can't help that he's got blonde hair"

  • People who compare them to Nirvana have never listened to either group - they've read that in a forum and think they're cool repeating someone else's ignorant opinion. (If you actually listen to the music, instead of just looking at Daniel, silverhcair might remind you of Pearl Jam, but that's because of Daniel's voice, not their style).

It's so stupid - the first time I heard STP, I thought 'Oh, Pearl Jam has a new album'. And STP doesn't get half the crap silverchair gets.

  • Yep,you're so right,that's exactly what I think.

People are just adoptings someone elses opinions.

    And Ben's right,aswell.

The only thing they have in common with Nirvana is that both lead singers had blond long hair.

    It just sucks.

Almost every silverchair video is commented with something like "oh,kurt cobain double" or "that sounds like Nirvana"

    argh,it really pisses me off.

  • @DancingChickenMan eat a dick ya cunt.

  • Silverchair is really good but come on... some of their stuff is totally watered down Nirvana. Instead of Rape Me, they have Abuse Me. Freak sounds like something of Bleach

  • i can understand the fact that he didnt like people comparing them to nirvana. mainly because as an artist, one wants individuality and self expression, they cant help the fact that they sound like nirvana, it's just the way they sound. its similar to two kids that are twins, they look like each other, yet can't help the fact that they do.

  • When i first SAW <--- very important... Silver chair... i thought oh ... nirvana wannabes...then i LISTENED to their songs and felt like a cock end after cos theyre no where near nirvana...

  • @thezakkuk yeah, it might be flattering at first, but it would be extremely frustrating for people to see you as a rip off of Nirvana.

  • i disagree that the two sound nothing alike, their early sound (silverchair) was heavily influenced by nirvana, and what 3 piece grunge band wasnt. smells like teen spirit changed what music was when it hit the scene and being 13 and having a grunge sound silverchair picked right up in that. they very quickly established themselves as something all together different though.

  • Lol ŇiRvAnâ is icecream you are horse shit. Compare that.

  • @thezakkuk people don't just compare them, they accuse them for being copies... But i see your point, i would be freaking proud as well

  • When we first began and I was 14, my influences were the stuff that was in my parent's record collection like Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin.

    - Daniel Johns.

  • The songs on the first EP were about the time when we were influenced by Soundgarden and Pearl Jam and all the Seattle bands, except for Nirvana. We don't really like Nirvana that much.

    - Daniel Johns.
