Another Tuesday night in Paradise! Was ever a song's title so apt? Watch James Lake and Deirdre Towers dip and glide to the music -- Vince's reimagining of the Leo Reisman recording of this ordinarily fast tune, with the original growling solo by Bubber Miley. The Nighthawks on this, their second Tuesday-night appearance at Sofia's (211 West 46th Street) were Alex Norris, Mike Ponella, Dan Block, Will Anderson, Andy Farber, Jim Fryer, Andy Stein, Peter Yarin, Ken Salvo, Vince, and Arnie Kinsella. Recorded by Michael Steinman: see and hear more at http://www.jazzlives.wordpress.com.

  • @bixlives Yes, this is similar to the explanation that phredl gave me but I appreciate it just the same! Happy Feet is one of my all time favorite pieces of music. and Bix DOES live, LOL ! Great name!

  • @doctorkazoo ,,,Vince Giordano has 3 versions of this tune in his book,,,,this is the Leo Reisman "cover" ,,,it's slower than the other versions !

  • @phredl Thanks! I DID miss that! It's still absolutely fantastic! THIS is what music is all about!

  • @ As Vince explained he's using the Reisman arrangement. This was the original tempo of that particular recording.

  • this band always makes a gorgus sound

  • Vince's band is brilliant as always but why are they playing this so slow?

  • some of the best music in the world. i grew up with "50's rock&roll but allways listened to 20's & 30's music when i could. did you know that the original nighthawks( ibeleive they were called coon sanders nighthawks) were from kansas city and played live on wdaf radio in the 1920's?
