A video designed to broadcast young people's views on alcohol. The vox pops interviews were filmed in May 2010 during the Speakeasy youth forum on drugs and alcohol.
Speakeasy was a one day event that aimed to improve responses to dealing with young people affected by substance misuse in the London borough of Haringey. Some of the footage included in the clip is from alcohol awareness films produced by youth organisations, COSMIC and Exposure.
Over 100 - 15 and 16 year olds from schools in the borough attended the event. Interviewees were asked their views on a number of topical issues around alcohol including parental drinking and attitudes, relationships and domestic abuse, advertising and marketing, peer culture and influence.
Alcohol Concern is the national agency on alcohol misuse campaigning for effective alcohol policy and improved services for people whose lives are affected by alcohol-related problems.
We’ve launched a new initiative called Family Talk UK to help parents share advice with each other about how best to talk to their children about alcohol and responsible drinking – check out our videos of parents discussing the issue on our Youtube channel, and join the discussion yourself here by searching “Family Talk UK” on Facebook
