Second compulsory boss in the final dungeon. I arranged the parties so that the same team that fought Inferno would end up being present here as well. Throwing things does excellent damage and Mog's more useful here than anywhere else, with one Dance of his being especially effective against this boss (weak to lightning and water).

We're very likely to die on the first turn if the boss decides to use Atomic Rays, and I don't think casting Mighty Guard helps. That means we mustn't see the move in this battle at all hence a lot of resets.

Moreover, when the boss enters the Ultros battle program he's very likely to use a full-party Tentacle. Mighty Guard and full health still don't ensure survival.

I got lucky here with Sketch casting Mighty Guard on the party (so that Gogo doesn't have to do it). One of the few cases when Sketch is actually useful, too.

An offensive strategy is used here (with some exceptions when I felt I should use White Wind to heal the party), with things being thrown and Mog dealing additional decent damage. I quickly run out of Thunder Blades and start tossing Impartisans instead (most damaging weapon to throw that I have quite a bit of).

When the party gets slowed, I avoid healing and try to end the battle before another irritating technique takes out the whole party again.

This was fairly complicated but not nearly as bad as the three goddesses.

  • I'm trying this challenge out and the last thing I did was beat the Earth Dragon. I'm trying to beat all the bosses and I've also killed the Ice dragon.

I was just wondering if you think Leviathan or any of the optional espers are even possible without grinding to a high level and overpowering them?

  • You should try and tell me if you have the GBA version. At least you have the HP to survive Gigantuar's attacks in this challenge. For Leviathan, you could probably have Strago set up Force Field to protect against water.

  • Yes, I have the GBA version.

That's what I was thinking, the problem is Leviathan uses Tsunami instantly (if I remember correctly) so I would have to get a Preemptive and have Force Field nullify water instantly. If you can even get a Preemptive on him... I don't know.

  • Or Strago should survive it somehow.

  • Neither did I, but that's because I don't usually use him.

  • Let it be known that this is the first of your videos to be watched by me with my NEW LAPTOP *angel chorus*

XP! I didn't know Mog would stay sitting down during his dance if he was at Crit XP

I know from the discription this was hard. But it looks so easy!

  • oh wow, I am very impressed! I cannot wait to see it!

  • Okay, I can't believe it but I did end up winning on my first attempt after taking a break. Took advantage of every little thing and, God, the ending was epic. Gotta upload the rest of my Warring Triad battles.

  • I still have no idea what to expect from the Kefka battle. I've fought all those tiers a lot before but this'll be different.

I don't want to forfeit so soon, especially seeing how I've been quite close to winning already.

It's funny, sometimes I find myself losing because I keep screwing up Bum Rush. I know perfectly what buttons should be pressed but somehow I fail a lot. I also notice the emulator not responding to some of my other actions so it's that or my computer or keyboard. idk.

  • uhh, she used an attack that really damaged all my people and then turned them all to condemned then zombie. They were back to back. Her bolt 3 killed any one person, but left two barely alive to be recovered.

I have been messing around with two different strategies for the end fight. One has won. But the other basing more in luck seems so much cooler.

Perhaps you could break your latter objective and just come back with your best guys? Maybe kick Atma's butt too?
