The Virgin Trains MK3 Pretendolino rake arrived in to Preston, Friday 17th December 2010. The pretendolino set came in to Prestons platform 3 with the 18:46 London Euston service. The set arrived at Preston for the last time at 21:50.

The Virgin Trains Class 82 DVT 82126 Pretendolino set operated / hauled by a EWS Class 90 loco locomotive, the nine car set plus DVT which is a replayment for the Pendolino which crashed at lambrigg, the Pendolino 390 033 'city of Glagow' was replaced by the old push pull train which used to operate up and down the west coast main line, wcml.

This is the last booked service for the pretendolino to operate the 18:46 service to Preston on the friday night, from Friday 17th December 2010 the 18:46 Preston service will be operated by one of Virgin Trains premier Class 221 Super Voyager. I must stress that Virgin Trains are not removing the MK3 set from their fleet, as some people have understood. It will now operate the Virgin Trains 18:43 service to Crewe via B'Ham New St on a Friday instead of operating a service to Preston. Therefore the Super Voyageer DMU will take over from the push pull set.
I would like to thank david for this in formation about the change of the time table, englischlokfuehrer

I hope you have enjoyed thsi video of the last Pretendolino to Preston, a VirgintrainsUk, VTUK Productions EXCLUSIVE 2010.

The footage in video includes past visits of the DVT on its daily service from London Euston station along the west coast main line to Preston on a friday eveing.

I hope you like the video, it was great to see the set of in all it glory with a great hiorn from the driver, I would like to give a special thanks to the driver of this Pretendolino set to Wembley's Alstom Depot. It was very kind of the driver to allow me access to the cab for pictures and a general feeling to be in the PRETENDOLINO cab !

This is the last video on the series of videos which make up the virgintrainsuk new for 2010 chrsitmas special for this festive period, which included a hornby model railways class 90 review in the Virgin Trains red, black and the white go faster stripes. Model railway snow action and spotting at Preston in all the snow which the UK are getting at this time.

Thanks for watching, Bradley of VTUK Productions.

  • I am getting this set by Hornby for Xmas! Cant wait! Do you know what services it travels and on what days as I'd like to travel on it sometime soon!

  • @ishan99b Its now on the 18:43 EUS-Crewe on a Friday :) p/s is an amazing model, well the DVT is the Class 90... well...

  • Why do you pride so much in it being 'Exclusive'?

  • @robertmbishop Why not? Its last booked service, am the only one with it one. Which makes it 'Exclusive' !!

  • Very good Bradley, good job you managed to get there to record the occasion, I did prewarn the Driver that one of my YT contacts would be at Preston and asked him to do something special for you and he obliged with a cab visit and some music.. Thanks also for the credit (twice) for the info supplied.

  • I'm confused. You say this is the 1846 service in mid-December, but you show the train in daylight...

  • Platform 5 NOT platform 3

  • @av8james Yes indeed, and windows big enough to see out of, that sometimes even line up with the seats !

  • @BRclass37 this comment makes no sense

  • I worked at Oxley Depot in 1989 when the DVT's were first introduced to the West Coast, believe me,we had alot of teething problems in the early days, getting them to work with the class 86's/87's as they were designed to work with class 90's only,so alot of 'bodging' was done to force them to work with the earlier classes of AC Loco.

  • Carriages look familiar to the ones I used to Preston-Bournemouth/Bristol on but not the engines :)

  • I was on the pretendolino the other week, at first I was like, WTF, where is the actual pendolino but when I got inside, you realise how much more space there is inside the carriages, so not a bad journey at all

  • Dunno if anyone has said but the last 1P05 was 30th December with 90045 which I was on to Warrington.

  • are these still in service
