Self-proclaimed 'copy-cat' Gwen Stefani, confesses to her lineage of style-stealing in the song 'Magic's In The Makeup':

Can you tell I'm faking it? But I want to be myself
A counterfeit disposition Can't be good for my health
So many different faces Depending on the different phases
My personality changes I'm a chameleon
There's more than one dimension
I can fool you and attract attention
Camouflage my nature
Let me demonstrate...

Makeup's all off Who am I?
Magic's in the make up Who am I?

If you bore me then I'm comfortable
If you interest me I'm scared
My attraction paralyzes me
No courage to show my true colors that exist
I want to be the 'real thing'
But if you catch my eye, it can't be authentic
The one's I loath, are the one's that know me the best

My makeup's all off Who am I?
The magic's in the make up
If the magic's in the make up
Then who am I?
Magic is in the makeup
I want to be the 'real thing'
But the magic's in the makeup.

My makeup's all off Who am I?

  • Include Rick Neilsen from Cheap Trick (her first secret), and the local Los Angeles 1990-1995 Girl Bands (her second secret), and yes, it's complete. If cuff1957 is referring to gwen stefani, yeah, he's right.

  • @StarQualityWins True, and I also realized that I forgot the 1995 movie "Tank Girl". I'm sure there's more :)

  • Also, one more thing. You're taking the words to song above COMPLETELY out of context. The lyrics are her being vulnerable with the man she is falling for. And it's her way of simply saying to him..."This is how the world sees me. It's a persona, Not the real me. Do you know who I am? Do you love the person 'UNDERNEATH IT ALL'?" Coincidentally, she sings a song on her next album under the that title in which she realizes that he loves the person she is without the makeup...her real self.

  • I like Gwen Stefani, but I'm not some crazed super fan. I don't understand why there's a need to bash her though. All artists (and everyday people) take on certain aspects of the people they know and idolize. They sometimes borrow or take cues from the people that inspire them. That doesn't make them a fraud. Often, there are so many influences that they couldn't give credit to each and every artist or piece of art that made them the artist they are today if they tried to. This is petty.

  • @StarQualityWins don't u mean Harajuku,just shut the fuck up I don't wanna hear it

  • @Kruegerisgod She's been stealing from everyone shown here, L.A. unknowns, and starting in 1995, Japan's Harajuko girls, left and right, like life is one big manequin filled shopping mall, and god gave her credit card.

  • @insidexistance I agree with you

  • @StarQualityWins she is a human, she has feelings like the rest of us, and hitting her with a bottle is not right any sane person would know that

  • @Kruegerisgod I wouldn't go so far as to call her human..

  • i will never stop loveing u gwen your da best in the world

  • @StarQualityWins that's fucked up, she is a human being and humans deserve love
