  • Ian Upton is partially right. Sharp & Striding edges in summer are straightforward hillwalks with a bit of grade 1 scrambling and some avoidable exposure and lot of people do tend to make a song and dance about it being difficult .BUT in full winter conditions where you need crampons and ice axes I would say that IS mountaineering, not on an alpine scale but certainly no place for the inexperienced or those without proper kit..especially if its windy. Dont forget, people die on these ridges.

  • nice

  • nics snaps accompanied by a fucking row

  • to the guys arguing below: shhhhh

  • @ianupton One other thing mr big test-tickles - when you go on an exposed route in the alps you invariably have a via ferrata.

Here in the UK adrenaline junky toss pots (like who?!) wonder up Crib Goch "under equiped" - i.e. in flip-flops and beach shorts, all the time.

  • ianupton is a prick if a fall either way is gonna kill u n thats not a challenge i dont kno wot is he probs went up there on google earth the gobshite.........

  • @ianupton Hey Mr Big Testes, I've got a challenge for you - base jumping without a parachute. You up for it? I'll film you, and we can post it up here so everyone else can see what a real man with real gnads does in his spare time, instead of pussyfooting up tiny hills.

What do you say, have we got a deal?

  • i was up on sunday evening actually. icy at the top. in the dark. suprised at how many people were still up there too. over equipped as usual. after that, i had bovril. it warmed us up. ready for the next challenge. white water rafting - on the thames. !!

  • @ianupton What do you think a high alpine path is? That's right - a hill walk with some exposure.

There's plenty of extremely taxing mountaineering in britain. the challenge is different from the alps - Nevis can easily be scaled in a day, whereas alpine north faces usually need a few, but the grade is just as hard and the weather is very tough.

Come and have a go if you don't believe me (I have, probably unlike you).

  • @ChadHorney look. this is a hill walk. no more no less. stop pretending its mountaineering. its nothing. wow. you went for a 'walk' up a hill. makes me laugh these helvellyn heroes. try free climbing the myan ruins if you want a real challenge. i bet you all went up in your 'landrover defenders' hahaha.
