Crokinole action from the 2009 World Championships in Tavistock, Ontario, on June 6. Part 1 of the championship finals between Brian Cook and Nathan Walsh. More information about the championships is available on worldcrokinole.com and many other sites such as worldcrokinoleleague.com, and crokinoledepot.com.

There is a mistake in the introduction. Cook is actually on the left and Walsh on the right.

  • what are they rubbing the pieces in?

  • @timequakezombie In the ditch is some shuffle board wax that sticks to the discs and reduces its friction. It's pretty common in tournament play.

  • The humidity was making the boards slower and a little sticky.

As for the scoring, in tournament play you get 2 points winning a round, 1 for a tie and 0 for a loss.

  • How is the 2-0 score after the first round figured? By my reckoning, it would be black by 35.

  • The board looks sticky. Did the humidity play a part?

  • Walsh is just a young guy...WOW these guys are good!
