I was accused that I can hear

Few years ago, I was accused by my friend that I can hear when she knew I was deaf.

I hate to say this, but there are actually people out there who feign deafness, for whatever warped reasons they come up with.

Still, it is just as rude to accuse a person of feigning deafness as it is to accuse a person of lying about anything else. You may as well accuse an excellent female athlete of taking steroids or a single man with a ring mark and no ring of really being a married man on the make. Say that, and you'd better be ready to duck. If you doubt, doubt with some respect.

well i am partial deaf and i can hear faint sounds. some people prefer cochclea implant, but they should know the risks. some say itcauses cancer in some people, pending on health issues. i know one deaf woman who works at a treatment center in washington state. she is deaf and she said it helps her to hear and speak as well. with out it she cannot hear anything. thats her choice.

Years ago in Colorado...lived next door to good friends of mine...when I knocked on door...I counted 1...2...3 then opened the door and announced with my voice: It's me Roberta! My next door neighbor came running out and exclaimed that I heard her saying "Come in!" and "Who is it?". I laughed and said "No, I didn't hear you, I just counted 1-2-3 and figured you'd want to know who I am". She said it was just perfect timing, lol!

i just watched this video and read all the comments, i just wanted to say from a person that can hear i think you all are amazing. keep up the good work. i wish i couldn't hear half of the stuff i hear from people everyones so negative.. =( bye -chase

yeah that happen to me few times back then... one time i turn volume the radio cuz i was boring in the car... and my head start rockin' on cuz of sound rythmes.. my hearing passenger said.."u can hear!" " why u bs?" i was like wtf... hearing advice help me hear anything...

I have kind of same experience last year with hearing students who thought that I can't speak or hear at all. One time I decided to call my interpreter's name instead of walking and tapping on her shoulder. And one or two boys were amazed that I can talk good. Those two boys' face was so funny because their expressions were like "huh? You can speak!?" Lol. Other than that, I've that exactly experience when the light flickers if something has been turned on or off.

Happen to me about 6 years ago.I remembered when I was in college. I went to cafe at lunch break, but a chef did not believe that I am deaf after he saw me only writing note to woman. I did not understand what he said and do not like his stink attitude! He kept talking to me without writing and tried to making me speak but I can not. I am not good with reading lips and speak both. But, a woman made him to stop and leave me alone.

i am hearing, but my best friend is deaf. I was sitting at lunch with two deaf girls... our principle came up (who can't sign) and sat down next to my best friend and says, "WHat did the other girl say?" my friend just kind of looked at her, and then the principal got mad because she was ignoring her. I said, "ma'am, she is deaf," and she yells, "no she isn't! Don't lie to me!" I was so mad... that was so rude.

Great video. I'm hearing, learning ASL. I think hearing people are so amazed by the reception skills of Deaf thay they can'b beleive thier really deaf. Hearies don't have to really so much on sight, feeling vibrations and body language so they can't beleive that Deaf are so sensitivie to their environment. It almost seems lake they can hear. It's a kind of prejudice or paranoia. People need to relax.

I have been accused that I can hear. I was raised speaking word beautifully, But I'm totally deaf. I didn't want to depend on my speaking. Till one day I met one of my good friend's friend that was hearing. He know pretty much sign language.He tried to chat with us. One part of his chat was giving my friend a hard time to understand what he was saying.. I butt in with my voice and he jumped up and accused me that I can hear..
