He's an AWESOME guitarist but I feel he's missing one thing really... the ability to play one note or one run and sustain a bend that just lets everyone proccess what he just did... I think what happens with him is hes all over the place and its amazing but hes not letting his guitar do too much screaming

LOL. I agree. Just because this guy isn't the STAR of Woodstock & Isle of Wight fame doesn't mean he isn't any good. I'm a jazz player myself. Alvin's great, this guy's great. Love 'em both.

I've played in a couple of bands with Joe(I'm so proud!),and he's technically tons better than he's playing here,he's keeping it all bluesy I think so as not to go over people's heads...Maybe that's what numb-nuts means when he says he's a 'bar band' guitarist!Hope Joe's having a good time with TYA,but hope he can get enough recognition in his own right,to be able to front his own serious outfit soon.(that's when I get the call to be your bassist Joe, hint...)

Is there a problem? All guitar players are original, because each one is different. Comments that Joe Gooch is a "bar band" guitarist say more about those who post such words than they say about the band, because Ten Years After (past & present) are clearly all superb musicians.
yeah..joe`s all right..but shit! i saw alvin lee do goin` home at the capital theatre in portchester..back in the late sixties..when they broke into that number it was 2 am and the crowd went nutz..i mean nutz!

yeah...I saw Alvin with Ten Years After in the late 60's too. The crowd never went nutz, because most of them were too stoned...I mean stoned! The audiences started going nutz in the 70's after release of the Woodstock movie that made Alvin a movie star, changed the audience to teeny boppers and destroyed the musical direction of the band. I've seen TYA with Joe Gooch 19 times, and I've seen the crowd go nutz at many of those shows too...!!
