The greatest car!

no, not yet. I'm working on it and on a couple of others going off road with my mates.

They're not all bad the autos. Had a strop in a manual - appeared to have loads more grunt though, not sure of the actual stats on them. Manuals here fetch a heck of a dollar!

auto all the way. nothing could be better. driveline and all bushes are just about totally shagged though. I love it.

Maybe the 2.4 is better in that respect ;) Honestly, overtaking tractors was a mission! Got stuck behind three of the buggers one day and thought I'd be a dead man in no time :D Although, it was an auto - your's a manual or?

Seriously? I don't have any probs with mine. If I'm doing 100-110Kph I just hit it and it goes. I even manage to drag off 100 series cruiser with 1HD-FTE motors in them. I get a surprised look there.

I'm with you on the price side - they're bonkers asking for that sort of coin for a work hack.
Reason I sold the J78 was because it didn't hack it on the open road, 95kph+, couldn't overtake. Went into a V8 Land Rover - problem solved. :D Still like the 70s though!

What gets me is the price. They had the molds for the body panels since 1988 I believe so there would be no cost in reusing them. Personally i would prefer it if the new ones came out in a 4 banger version.
I reckon that off road in all situations autos just go better. Acceleration wise they seem quicker as well because you don't have to change gears manually. I don't buy manual cars anymore. I just wish i can afford an auto box for my truck. I'm sick of the 18 speed roadranger box.

Off road the auto seems loads safer as well! 18 gears..... no wonder you prefer autos! Any videos of your truck?
