The Creative Xmod makes a HUGE difference. Its quite ridiculous sound at such a good price point. I won't make a video, because the recorded sound won't do the XFi justice. But take it from me, the difference is substantial.

i have an imac 24" 2.8ghz,
the speakers i have are the logitech z-5500 digital which is a 5.1 system. as of now they connect though an audio cable which gives me good quality. to make it better, it has a setting called PL2 which makes it like surround sound
will this creative xmod increase the quality and what exactly does it do?

I don't suggest to get the xmod for your setup because it was designed for 2.1 speaker setups. You already have surround sound, and the only other feature which could be of use would be the Crystallizer, which is good, but not worth the full retail price of the unit.

How well does it work with an MP3 player? Any clue?

If you are going to buy it for that reason \, then DONT. Its requires a USB cable, although you can buy a USB power plug, but you will need to connect to power whenever you want to use it.
It works nicely with my iPod Touch.
