GirlPOWER Robotics Competition--Mount Saint Joseph Academy's Robotics Team, The Firebirds (Mount's FIRST Robotics team) hosted their second annual GirlPOWER (Preparing Outstanding Women Engineers through Robotics) competition and exhibition.

High school robotics teams from across the East Coast attended. This event was run under the rules of the FIRST (For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) FRC competition. For this event, all competitors (drivers and robot maintenance crews) were girls. There were robot demonstrations, food, music and a lot of fun. Spectators took their turn driving one of several demo robots. Representatives from a number of university engineering schools offered information about their programs. Mentors from the FIRST Lego Robotics League were present to answer questions about starting a team of elementary school students
