D'TUTUNIONS-the Bamboo Orchestral was formed in Tawau District on 02 February, 2006 on the initiative of Mr. Patrick Kajiun, the pioneer of the musical group. TUTUNIONS, a word originated from the DUSUN language bears the meaning of noises or sorts of musical sounds. This musical group shoulders the important objective and aim to continue the tradition inherited from their ancestors so as to introduce, to spread , and to play and to preserve this traditional KADAZAN-DUSUN musical instruments so that it will not be vanished in the midst of rapid developments of the country. At the same time, the group wish also to establish close relationship with other ethnic groups in Malaysia, particularly in the State of Sabah.
In the initial stage, only nine persons participated in the formation of this group and only having bamboo-made musical instruments like SOMPOTON and TAGUNGGAK. With the co-operation and hard working of the members , financial supports were being generated through Traditional Music performances in several occasions in the Tawau District. Apart from the good response and increasing membership, the group also could afford to add in and possess more musical instruments like KULINTANGAN, TAGUNGGAK, SOMPOTON, BUNGKAU, BAMBOO GUITAR, SULING, BAMBOO DRUM, SUMAZAU EQUIPMENTS and etc.
D'TUTUNIONS Bamboo Orchestral now do not only perform the KADAZAN-DUSUN Traditional Music in the Tawau District but also beginning to lay foot to other districts to carry out their performances and at the same time to introduce their traditional KADAZAN-DUSUN musical instruments.
