  • Very nice. Are you the organist there in Uithuizen? I was in Amsterdam in the spring (2008) and was not able to go up there. I hope to do so soon. Thank you for sharing this with us.

  • Hi! No, I'm not the organist there. This was actually the first time I went there after the restauration. I'm organist in Bedum, Harkstede, Onderdendam (1841) and I sometimes play in services on the beautifull Husz-Ahrend organ (1650/2008(rw)) in Kantens, which is about 8 kilometers from Uithuizen. When you come to Holland again you must come to Groningen, where you'll find many historical and beautifull preserved instruments. They call the province (region) Groningen the "Garden Of Organs"!

  • Je prefere cette piece joue un peu plus lent et interiorisee, mais vous etes un artiste et libre a choisir le tempo.

  • Usually I play it slower, but I like to vary sometimes... The church in Uithuizen doesn't have very spatial acoutics, so I thought I could take the tempo a bit higher without losing clarity.

  • Regarding tempo, we cannot judge what the organist is hearing in the acoustic of the building where he/she is playing; so, unless the tempo is "extreme" in one direction or the other, most anything should be acceptable. In other words, we cannot criticize from our computers and armchairs.

  • Heel mooi gespeeld, Peter, en wat een prachtig instrument!

  • Good job. I like your ornamentation. It sounds very naturally. I agree with your reason for the tempo.

  • Hey I thought this was brilliantly played. My only criticism would be as to your opening - try to focus the beginning more. I found myself feeling rushed at first, but as you went on it felt perfect. So well done :)

  • So, you are a very busy guy! I know of the old kerk in Kantens; lovely. I shall definately visit Groningen on my next trip. Are you familiar with Krewerd? I have a long list of places which I wish to see in the North. I want to see the Koorkerk in Middelburg as well (unplayable gothic organ there). Thanks again for sharing your posts with us here. Please do more of them.
