I don't understand why this guy is so pessimistic. There's over a trillion barrels of oil in the Alberta tar sand and over another trillion in Venezuela's tar sands(unfortunately). Plus there's a technology called coal gasification. Sure, they are all expensive but not outrageously expensive. The only problem is that were not building coal gasification plants except for China.

I'm afraid talk is far to cheap and I am not really sure we want politicians 'helping' the honest citizen. They are so busy with dirty little projects that harm us. We seem to do better with LESS help from the corrupt. Besides, when are the corporate CEO's of the USA (presidents) ever honest?... to us!

I dont understand how no one is talking about this!!

This speaker was actually rather boring, but informative. The Long Emergency stretches credibility & belongs on Alex Jones's show. You want information about life after peak oil, check out Richard Heinberg

Awesome video. The Long Emergency is also a great book on the subject. It will be interesting to see how the world responds to this problem. Honestly though I think we are all too individual to really pull together as a whole planet. Russia is building a pipeline to China as we speak. Countries will solve to their own problems and those who can't will become economic losers. It's sad to see these powerful topics being discussed by civilians and not the policitcal members who can resolve it.
If only our presidential candidates would speak to this issue.

This is Matt's most comprehensive presentation to date, at least that I have seen. It's perhaps a little too technical in some respects and not quite the knock-upside-the-head of some of his other presentations, but anyone who watches this and actually understands it, should have their eyes opened.
I'll be adding it to my blog. Hope you all spread the word, too.
Cheers
