I can't work out why my Trex 600 makes this noise. Have replaced the clutch twice and now using the thicker raptor HD liner, but still it causes the clutch to make this crappy noise.

UPDATE: If you have this noise, dismantle the engine and check the rear bearing. Don't try to feel if the bearing is rough, by rotating the crankshaft. It doesnt work. I solved it by replacing a very worn out rear bearing.

  • @taurustbolt Excellent!!! I am pleased that it is fixed. My pleasure :)

  • @loiphin I did a test hop in the backyard...NOISE IS GONE! Thanks for your help!!!

  • @loiphin I changed it last night. I'll let ya know if the noise goes away.

  • @taurustbolt Yeah, notchy = toast. Your engine can run at 20,000rpm , and the bearings must be completely smooth running. I am pretty sure thats whats causing the problem. If you dont change it, you will risk destroying the crankshaft, like I did!

  • @loiphin I pulled everything off the engine but the bearings out so far. Front one is very smooth, rear is kinda notchy. It still spins and doesn't look like it is coming apart just yet. I'm going to drop in a new rear just to be safe. Could a minor notchy feeling be enough to make that noise at idle?

  • @taurustbolt Let me know what you find :)

  • @loiphin Thanks for the reply. I'll replace the bearings before doing any more flying.

  • @taurustbolt Yes, it went away after spinning up the blades. Take out your OS50 and check the bearings. You can't feel if the bearings are toast without taking the engine to bits. I thought mine were fine, but upon taking it to bits the rear bearing was screwed.

The reason for the noise is that the crankshaft vibrates alot at idle with a bad rear bearing. Thus causing the clutch to vibrate against the clutch bell and make the terrible noise. Once up to speed its fine of course.

  • hey, i'm having a similar noise at idle, but once I spin up the blades, the noise goes away. did the noise persist when your blades were spinning? I have the Align 600 LE with OS50.

  • with out a dought your back bearing
