A clip from Al Pacino's rare and elusive self-made adaptation of 'The Local Stigmatic', featuring Al Pacino, Paul Guilfoyle and Joseph Maher. Al's accent isn't as bad as we thought! ;-)

  • To call this a terrible London accent I feel is a little harsh; I mean, it's no Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins. I think Pacino's nicotine-coated voice is so ingrained on the public consciousness from films like The Godfather Part III, Scent of a Woman and Heat that to hear him pronounce his words in a different accent just seems unnatural. Not a great accent perhaps, but a fair one (and no, I'm not American).

  • I'm looking forward to purchasing this independent and highly private film that Al Pacino made and financed. It will be released as part of a box set that will also include "Looking For Richard" and "Chinese Coffee", an Off-Broadway play that Pacino produced and starred in alongside Jerry Orbach.

  • mm his pom accent isnt that good

  • I love that scene

  • ahahaahahaha the accent is like slightly autistic!!!!

  • Pacino grew up in the Bronx near spanish comunity that's why he speaks some spanish. Brian De Palma wanted him for his rol in Scarface because he knew that, and because Pacino is Pacino y'know.

  • Wow, I never thought I'd hear Al Pacino speak British. And he was actually good!

I have to listen to the clip again, 'cus it's funny AND so out of Al Pacino's normal character choice.

  • Yeah, I was thinking the same thing when he was doing Richard III. I didn't think he could pull it off. I mean, his accent isn't dead on good. But for Al, I think its a big step because in his younger days, I never would have imagined him playing a role with that type of accent. I didn't think he could pull it off. Maybe the cuban, but not the British

  • He spoke spanish (or whatever language it was) in Devil's Advocate when he was on the subway talking to those gangsters who were going to rob him.

  • Fair enough, but he does it to better effect in Scarecrow, which is well worth watching as a gauge of Al Pacino's versatility. there is a part towards the end where his character veers into different accents and personalities, including cockney. i don't know if you've seen that one?

  • our accent is so varied thought probably very difficult to pull off

  • it's not an estuary at all it's a cockney come shephard's bush accent

i lived in london and it is spot on
