I'm really not sure what his deck was, even though we played like three times, but he had a lot of mana-ramp and quite a few allies so I'm going to assume that was his deck's goal.

So yeah, I also play Magic: The Gathering, just to prove I'm even more of a nerd. I recently reinstalled Magic Online and spent the night recreating my real-life deck on it to get some games in, and, well, this, the best game I've ever had, happened.

Also, this is the first time I've ever recorded a replay via Magic Online, so I hope I focus on the right things and it's not too hard to watch.

  • was this free i've been thinking of getting magic online but i don't want to pay. I heard the program was free but you buy the cards separately or something like that....is that true?

  • @desiice07 You heard true. MTGO itself is free, but the cards are bought at about the same price as you'd buy them at any store, at least the boosters and intro decks are. However, I did notice that remaking my real life deck online somehow managed to be cheaper than when I bought the cards in real life. But prices and all that obviously tend to vary.

  • Awesooome! *pretends to have any idea whatsoever what's going on*

  • @Fawriel Let me explain the key turning point in non-Magic terms.

I have a giant flaming volcano elemental, and he has an elven druid with the ability to turn his lands into creatures. He casts Rite of Replication, which, with the extra mana paid, will allow him to essentially copy that creature five times. I respond with Reverberate, which copies a spell but lets me change the targets to whatever I want, so now I have five giant flaming volcano elementals.

The game ends soon after that.

  • @StarkMaximum Why didn't you use Burst Lightning on your opponent's Vastwood Animist, though?

  • @VariableGear Do you mean in response to Reverberating his Rite so that I'd get five tokens and he'd get none? That's mostly because I have this habit of playing "in the moment" and not really taking in the "big picture" of every single thing I could do. In that turn, my one focus was waiting for him to cast something big I could copy. Thus, once I Reverberated the Rite, my mind considered my goal accomplished and didn't really take in the rest of my hand.
