Do you think he's show boating? He's certainly living out the message today in a way that very few of us have the courage to, but I don't feel like he's being magnanimous.

I agree that Shane should be allowed to go to churches where there's corruption because it's definitely the very place that needs to change.

But I also think Shane ought to use discernment

and be vocal on false teachings like contemplative prayer and the prosperity gospel

Maybe 2 Timothy 4:3 but not 4. Perhaps a few churches are turning to myths, but not many unless you want to argue that the Bible is a myth which I assume we both don't think that. There is certainly a large amount of corruption in churches today, but Shane preaches to change that. There's no reason that Shane shouldn't be allowed to go to churches where there's corruption because it's definitely the very place that needs to change.

Shane doesn't just speak for the emerging believers, but to all people of all walks of faith. Like Jesus, anyone who is willing to listen, let them hear. WE need to stop complaining about church and begin being the church, like Shane said. I mean it is hard not to get too INTO Shane, we have to be careful. BUT we must see that Shane is doing something radical. He is the voice that will break lies n build bridges. To know what we believe but how we live out our lives. We need to be Jesus!

It is amazing how God can use any of us, no matter how good a public speaker we may be. In 1 Corinthians 2:13 it says "This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit."

He's not in it for limelight. He's trying to be an ambassador for Christ, a voice for those in need and an encourager to every Christian trying to live well. Why do we live in a society so messed up that when someone is advocating someting great we are adverse and question his motives? Yes no one is perfect but is that not the reason he is talking about the need to love and care, particularly for the poor and outcast, better?
