Tough Mudder Challenge
Allentown, Pennsylvania
(Bear Creek Resort, Macungie)
April 10, 2011
*******
Course Info:
11 miles, 24 obstacles
Summit Elevation 1100 feet, Elevation Change 500 Feet
List of the more memorable obstacles:
1. Having to eat a chili pepper and then jumping into an ice filled dumpster
2. Jumping off a 15 foot platform, swimming 20 yards in 38 degree water
3. More frigid water obstacles after that, awesome
4. Crawling up a black diamond ski slope in mud and snow
5. Climbing over multiple 12 foot high walls
6. Running up (read: dragging ourselves by the end) and down very steep ski slopes at least 6-10 times (lost count)
7. Carrying wood up and down ski slope and then having to scale a high wooden structure and slide down the other side
8. Scaling greased up monkey bars over water, most people couldn't do it so you're wet and gross again
9. Jumping into neck deep muddy water pits, every 5 year olds' dream
10. Running through a smoke filled section of burning hay bales. COUGH.
My favorite event -- the 'boa constrictor' where you climbed through plastic tubes, then went waist deep in small river water, then into another tube and through. Awesome.
Worst event in my opinion -- crawling underneath barbed wire over rocks that scraped your knees/ankles. It was rough, and after 9-10 miles it hurt more.
Most ridiculous event -- running through electrified tentacles and being shocked with 10,000 volts.
Yeah the suit guys weren't with our team, but props to them and the other mudders in costume. We were running near a guy in a pink Speedo most of the race. It wasn't a pleasant sight, haha.
