Great to see my favorite steel-guitar player Leon McAuliffe on these shows from Town Hall Party! He did not only play fantastic steel but he was also an entertainer from his first step on the stage.
At last I'd like to say hi to Leon's daughter Lucy and say thanks for your comments on this page. In the mail today I got two albums autographed by your dad. That's really a thrill to have.

@CastleMr40 Leon played with Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys which was broadcast nationwide on KVOO radio from Cain's Ballroom in downtown Tulsa. He later had his own TV show (The Leon McAuliffe Show) which was broadcast live on KOTV every Saturday morning. This video is from an appearance on Hadley's Town Hall Party. Take it away Leon!!

I was blessed enough to live beside Leon McAuliffe when I was growing up. He was such a kind, giving and awesome man. I remember playing and watching him in the basement when he would practice. I had no clue how great and wonderful he was. A truly great human being to all!!!!!!

Mr McAuliffe played an old timey festival back east - I actually missed his show because I was flirting. But, I arrived just in time to see my hero hit a last chord, jump from the stage, run straight to me and shake my hand with a grin. !!! He then jumped onto the gate of a station wagon and rolled into the summer night leaving me to yell, "Take Leon away!" What was that? !!!

I am from New Jersey, the city, and listened to this style music (Western Swing) many moons ago. We got it on CKY, Welling West Virginia station late at night. Great and unique music. I intend to start playing again (my guitar and bass) and Lucy , your dad was great and long live Western Swing.\.

PS: My mom grew up with Shorty and Smokey Warren, the Eastern King of Western Swing, who had a radio program in Newark, channel 11, and had the best on it.

Lucy, I listened to your father over KVOO Tulsa radio when I was young and lived in Bristow Oklahoma. His show came on about 12:15 pm and I loved to hear the radio announcer say....It's twelve fifteen and time for...Leon McAuliffe and all the Cimmeron Boys! Take it away Leon! And Leon kicked off his famous Steel Guitar Rag. I thrilled every time I heard it! Your father was responsible for my wanting to learn to play the steel guitar and I'm still playing today at the age of 77. Spoony
I remember watching Leon in Tulsa on KOTV (then, the only station in town) when I was living there in the 50s. Is this a KOTV program?

I think the video is early 60's. Because Dad didn't wear the fancy uniforms till then. I remember when he first got them it made a real buzz around the house everyone had a funny opinion of them. It was such a change from the normal band uniform. Thank you for posting these video's I have enjoyed each one. From Leon's daughter Lucy.
